NEW VENUE JUST ADDED  - take a look at Marcusans

Hello all,

Well spawning should be out of the way on all the venues now, and the carp getting their heads down a bit more. Some waters have slowed up quite a bit after the initial spring time hauling that the majority  were treated to.  The weather of late has been decidedly hot and stormy, with some wicked thunder storms hitting some areas. Many lakes have been producing some real hauls
of carp and some surprise monsters catfish showing up also.

Here's a brief look at one or two of the more notable captures on a selection of our venues.

Coelacanthe - Le Village

The restaurant at Village

One such monster that turned up last week at Le Village was in the shape of a 105lb venue record Catfish. This huge fish was landed by Angling Lines client Daniel Whitworth on 25lb line with a bunch of worms as bait. The fight lasted 25 minutes and managed to take out nine other fishing rods in the process! The fish only gave a drop back bite, which Daniel struck. I don't think he expected to see what he ultimately banked!  The fish smashes the previous catfish record at the venue, landed last year at just under 80lb. Well done Daniel.

The first week of June also proved to be a real winner for Glynn and Steve Renynolds on peg 16. They landed a total of 68 carp, 32 to Glynn - the best of which went 47lb 5oz; 42lb 2oz; and a brace at  34lb 5oz; and 36 to Steve, six over thirty pounds, 39lb 6oz; 38lb 6oz; 35lb 6oz; 31lb 2oz; 30lb 8oz and 30lb 2oz. Most of the other fish were 20's to 29lb with a brace of surgeon and a grass carp. A magic session!

The last weekend of June threw up another monster PB for Paul Jarret fishing on peg 8, in the shape of a 51lb 8oz mirror. The fish was part of a 10 fish catch including a 33lb, which was good going considering the heatwave that has hit France throughout June.

This lake is certainly turning in consistently good results - a truly top venue.

Etang des Vinçons

This gorgeous and highly productive lake in the centre of France, with it's charming weeping willows and bankside accommodation really is the perfect setting for an exclusive carp fishing holiday. What the fish lack in size they make up for in numbers.  O nce spawning was out of the way the carp were back on the feed with a vengeance.

The 7-14 June saw Steve Hall and Lance Andrews-Mason and their families land 120 carp between them, mostly doubles to mid-twenties.

The following week the trio of Matt Quy; Glynn Warwick and Phil Fortune banked 67 carp, the biggest being a 25lb 4oz common. Their successful baits were the Hutchinson Addicted and Essential Shellfish B5. On leaving the venue they commented  "These carp are the hardest fighting we have come across....... great venue, fantastic fishing. You don't need 40's to enjoy carp fishing.....we'll be back!!"

The glorious Vincons

Etang - Le Roseau

This excellent action packed venue, has also been producing a good number of decent fish as they grow bigger season by season. Weeks with over 300 fish banked to the anglers present aren't rare.

The second week of June saw Mr Barns land 48 fish on his own to 25lb, including a double figure sturgeon. He finished his week with over half a ton of carp mostly fished on the Method with single boilies.  His comment: "Had a great week. Food was great, loads of fish, what more could you ask for?"

Forest Pool

This is one of the prettiest little venues I've ever had the pleasure to fish. Where else can you imagine waking up to see deer amble past your bivvy, without a care in the world.  It is a very intimate venue, with some very nice carp indeed. Despite it's small size it is not an easy venue, but one that can produce some excellent fish.

One such angler to experience this was John Brownlie and his group of three anglers.  They landed carp of 32lb 8oz; 33lb 8oz; 35lb; 36lb and 38lb 8oz along with a few doubles, in the last week in May.

The week prior to this saw the trio lead by Mr Shipley land their share of decent carp too. The had 18 fish  1x 36lb, 1x 32lb 4oz, 1x 31lb, 1x 25lb 4oz, 1x 24lb, 1x 22lb 2oz, 12x from 10lb to 15lb 8oz.

Etang du Moulin de Passais

Passais

Mr Gartons party were at this superb venue from 14 - 21 June and despite the fishing slowing due to the warm weather they nonetheless got in amongst a few good fish and landed a personnel best to boot. Here's an extract of their comments.

" When we arrived we did not have time to view the complex, the worst storm of the year had just started, so we disappeared into the fabulous accommodation.  In the afternoon the sun came out with a vengeance & the lake and surroundings made it a pleasure to be there.  The fishing was slow during the day but we still managed a few runs and my PB was smashed with a 27.12oz caught at 2.45pm. We finished up with 23 carp - John missed or lost around 14 fish and I lost around 7.  We enjoyed our week there and intend to return next year.  The food was excellent value for money and nice as well. All in all we had a great time and would certainly recommend this venue to you"

Keith the owner of the venue also managed to get in amongst the fish landing 30lb 8oz mirror. He advises the use of halibut pellets, with scopex boilies producing well

Brionnais

The hot weather has not really helped the fishing of late, and further south it has been quite tough going. Nonetheless a few catches worth of a mention have been popping up. Such was the case on the Étang du Brionnais where Jim Cobb and his family spent a sweltering week's fishing. He only landed thirteen fish, but size wise it wasn't unlucky for him, as the two biggest carp went 37lb 8oz and 45lb 12oz ... t. Thus smashing his PB on two occasions.

Once again the superb welcome and facilities at this venue proved a hit with the anglers. Jean-Guy is such a nice bloke, and bends over backwards to ensure that the visitors are lacking nothing in order to have a great holiday.
