Holiday Feedback Form

Name of customer:  Ken Dack

Venue:  Beaurepaire

Date of holiday: 20-10-2007 to 22-10-2007

No. of persons fishing: 1

Brief details of your catches: I had six runs landing five Carp in total, with the best fish going 20lb 10oz.

What did you find were the best tactics/baits: Casting or sending a bait boat out to any showing fish. Single 20mm or double 12mm bottom baits caught all the fish. A small PVA bag of pellets or stick mix was attached to the hook and the lead was wrapped in boilie paste, this seemed the best tactic.

Were the facilities what you expected? yes - Just as the brochure and dvd show

Were you happy with them? yes

Would you recommend the venue to a friend? Yes

Would you recommend our services to a friend? yes

General comments: The venue is really easy to find and is without doubt ideal for anyone travelling to France for the first time. The weather conditions were not ideal for my trip with freezing fog during the night(rods were frozen to my rod rests in the morning) and high pressure during the days. Despite these conditions the fish fed during the night when conditions were at there coldest. I really enjoyed my short time on the venue, and had to work really hard for any bites, this was probably due to the weather conditions. The owner was very nice and came to see how I was doing on the Sunday and took the trouble to explain the improvements he has planned for the venue, which I am sure will make it even better for anglers next year.

Brief details of your catches: The changeable weather made the fishing a bit tricky, but I worked hard at it and in the end managed to land five fish from six runs with the best fish going 20lb 10oz.

General comments: Just a quick note to say thanks to everyone at Angling Lines for organising my short trip to Beaurepaire as part of my competition win. I had a really enjoyable couple of days fishing the venue and was only sorry that I was unable to take up the full prize of a weeks fishing. Unfortunately the weather was not at its best during my stay with freezing fog at night and high pressure during the day The weather was so cold during my first night that my rods were actually frozen solid to the rests in the morning. Despite the very cold nights rather strangely all my runs came during the hours of darkness. The owner came to visit me on the Sunday and explained some of the changes (via his daughter translating) he has planned for the next year. I was actually amazed to see the tide mark left around the banks of the venue due to the high water that had been there in the previous weeks. The owner explained that some of the changes were to make the fishing more comfortable during the times of fluctuating water levels, I am sure this will help improve this nice little venue even more. Once again thanks to Angling Lines and the owner for offering this great competition prize to Beaurepaire, which I enjoyed immensely.

What did you find were the best tactics/baits: Using a bait boat, dropping baits on showing fish. Particle and pellets gave best action,

Were the facilities what you expected? As expected, did own cooking.

Were you happy with them? Yes, only used shower & loo

Would you recommend the venue to a friend? Yes

Would you recommend our services to a friend? Yes

General comments: Warning. shower is v-hot, I knocked the mixer tap and burnt my arm & back. Excellent for a bit of late season action, really enjoyed a lovely little lake stuffed full of hard fighting mirrors. Action patchy as other anglers struggled, fish shoaled up. Great for a newcomer to France, or a short break like mine. With action all week, would be hard work. Great venue and will only improve as fish grow.

Brief details of your catches: I caught 20 Carp in total and 1 Catfish on the last night. Biggest Carp was 32lb 08oz and the Catfish was 24lb 08oz. I had seven 20's and a Grass Carp of 17lb 02oz. I also lost quite a few fish in the snags and Weed.

What did you find were the best tactics/baits: I fished three different approaches, which were Spodded Particles \ Bolies and Pellets. All methods worked however the better fish came to the spodded particles fishing Maize as the hookbait. The Method also produced some Fish later in the week.

Were the facilities what you expected? Yes Excellent

Were you happy with them? Yes everything was Excellent

Would you recommend the venue to a friend? Yes (already have)

Would you recommend our services to a friend? Yes and have done so already

General comments: Everything was really good. The owner was very helpful even with the language differences. The Cabin was a brilliant addition and the use of a shower and the introduction of Two fridges and a freezer was excellent. Even the locals who came down to retrieve potatoes from the earth tipped for swim construction next year couldnt of been more freindly. A secret lake that unfortunatly everyone now knows about. Definatley consider this water if you want to go to France for a social and some excellent fishing.

No. of persons fishing: 3

Brief details of your catches: We caught 92 fish. 4 cats the biggest was 24lb 8oz, carp the biggest was 32lb 8oz.A few bream, 1 pike and 2 grass carp.

What did you find were the best tactics/baits: Most tactics we tried worked well, Feeders with spread boilies, also spodded beds of particle this worked well with maize hookbaits 14mm snowman rigs.

Were the facilities what you expected? Better

Were you happy with them? Yes, but shower needs attention.

Would you recommend the venue to a friend? Yes

Would you recommend our services to a friend? Yes

General comments: We didn't fish off the spit as the water levels were up. We fished the bay next to the hut, we would like to see the swims cut and levelled. All in all it was excellent. We plan to return in 2 years, by which time if they continue to grow as they are ther will be some whackers to try for.

Date of holiday: 01-09-2007 to 08-09-2007

No. of persons fishing: 5

Brief details of your catches: Well what can I say! What a runs water!!!!! Between the 5 of us we had.... 330 carp!!!

What did you find were the best tactics/baits: We all had bait boats and they achieved great results, loaded up with pellets and parti-blend. After putting in a bed of bait it was non stop action all over the lake. Boilies took the majority of the fish.from 15mm to 20mm fishmeal or fruit, tiger nuts also put a lot on the bank. Once a bed of bait was put down it was non stop action.

Were the facilities what you expected? Yes

Were you happy with them? Yes

Would you recommend the venue to a friend? Yes

Would you recommend our services to a friend? Yes

General comments: Once we arrived at the lake we noticed that the water level was about 6-8feet higher than it should have been, there was no point and hardly any island. The entire pool is surrounded in little bushes and trees which were also submerged. Finding pegs was not that bad, but getting the fish in was.... you had to wade in up to your waist with every fish to surface them over the sunken bushes....but after you have gone out for the 1st few fish we soon got used to it, but it did get a little cold in the middle of the night though up to your waist in water with just your your shorts on, but thats fishing. Apart from the high water level we couldn't have asked for a better holiday. The owners are great they can't do enough for you,its a very easy place to get to and the fishing is fantastic as you can see by our weight. The cabin is great everything you need, only down side it could do with more than 1 plug socket apart from that super. GREAT TRIP, GREAT HOLIDAY, GREAT FISHING what more can we say. From all of us to all of you "TIGHT LINES" and thank you.

Date of holiday: 26-08-2007 to 31-08-2007

No. of persons fishing: 1

Brief details of your catches: This was a family holiday, hence I fished the nights and we toured the area during the day. First night I had a bream, only the following four nights I averaged five carp per night. Largest fish was low twenties.

What did you find were the best tactics/baits: Had a good cast around with my marker float and found a slight depression in the lake bed at 95 yards. Cast out two markers to this spot and baited heavily with hemp, pellets and Quest Rahja spice boilies.I fished all three rods on this spot. I baited up every night before fishing and every morning before going out with the family.

Were the facilities what you expected? Facilities were exactly what we expected, you need to bring your own cutlery and cooking utensiles.

Were you happy with them? Yes, but a mop and brush would have been handy.

Would you recommend the venue to a friend? Yes

Would you recommend our services to a friend? Yes

General comments: This is a very pleasant lake and we really enjoyed our holiday. This is an ideal venue for a first trip to France as you only need to travel on two roads and the venue is stuffed full of carp. It is also ideal to learn your kids how to catch carp, my 11 year old mark had a great time Standard UK bait and tactics are more than adequate. I had a mess around with my terminal tackle and caught on everything I tried. The options I tried were: Single hookbait at range. stiff link Pop-up Bottom bait Supple braid Running lead Fixed lead Every option caught If you want a pleasant holiday in France and want to catch fish this is the place for you. The area is also very interesting, Reims cathedral is well worth a visit. The tourist information shop in Reims is excellent and they speak very good English. There are tours of the local Champagne caves in English. We found a beautiful swimming lake to the north west with a hugh adventure playground for the kids. Just an excellent part of France, enjoy.

General comments: Hi Bridget, I would like to send you a big thank you for the competition prize of a weeks fishing at Beaurepaire. I booked the lake and took my brother along as he had never been to France before. We have been back less than 24 hrs and we are already missing the place (especially as its raining here and were burnt to a crisp Ha Ha). The carp catching virtually started as soon as we got there. There was plenty of fish showing and after a couple of hours I had bagged a couple. That set the tone of the week really, steady catching during the day but not a lot at night (at least we could keep our rest up). Below is a breakdown of what we caught and I have also attached a couple of pictures. Saturday: Me: 16lb 8oz, 21lb & 24lb Dave: 14lb 8oz & 20lb Sunday: Me: 16lb 4oz, 14lb 12oz, 14lb, 18lb, 20lb Dave: 14lb 8oz Monday: Me: 19lb 8oz, 19lb 4oz, 31lb 4oz, 14lb 8oz, 17lb 6oz Dave: 13lb 10oz, 21lb, 11lb 10oz, 18lb, 22lb, 13lb Tuesday: Me: 20lb 2oz, 13lb 10oz, 17lb 14oz, 16lb, 19lb 8oz, 15lb 8oz Dave: 17lb 4oz, 14lb Wednesday: Me: 16lb 12oz, 21lb 8oz, 19lb 8oz, 10lb, 19lb 12oz Dave: 22lb 8oz, 13lb, 17lb 8oz Thursday: Me: 19lb 12oz, 22lb 8oz Dave: 12lb, 20lb Friday: Me: 16lb 4oz, 17lb, 12lb, 11lb 4oz Dave: 15lb 8oz. 22lb 12oz, 14lb, 16lb 8oz In total i had 30 fish for 536lb 4oz and Dave had 20 fish for 333lb 4oz. My biggest fish was 31lb 4oz and our Dave's was 22lb 12oz. If there was one complaint, or just to worn others, the place is stuffed with bream and skimmer bream. We caught loads of them and ended up using really big baits to avoid them. I even caught a Pike on 2 18mm boilies. Dave did achieve one of his ambitions of catching a cat fish, unfortunately it only weighted about 3lb. Once again a big thanks to you and all the people at angling lines. I would recommend Beaurepaire to anyone wanting to catch fish, i would even go back again one day (i might even pay this time ha ha ha). If this is the standard of your fisheries i can only say one thing..........Bring on Laroussi in October!!!! Thanks Andy Wilson

General comments: Far harder this week than previous visit, weather didn't help as it rained pretty much continually and we'd packed for a heatwave. Fabien and Fleur were great including getting their brother to pull my Landrover out of lake at 11pm last night having driven too close to a very, very, soggy bank (I didn't feel too stupid at all!). We will deffinately be back. Thanks a million.

Brief details of your catches: Between the 4 of us we had 81 carp, the smallest was 10lb and largest was 30lb. The average size was 18lb, each angler had at least 4 20lb plus fish during the week.

What did you find were the best tactics/baits: We used standard carp rigs, all seem to work.Snowman setup work well, a bright pop up with a fishmeal/meat based boilies. Fruit based boilie didn't work well. Fishing the method produced a few runs in the day, But the most productive bait was tiger nuts and pva bags of mixed pellets.

General comments: We had very good time and everyone enjoyed themselves, I would recommend this lake for a first time in france. The only downside is the lake's water level is very high in april, the lake looks different to the pictures on the website. It does make it slightly harder to fish when the water is up as there are lot more snaggs, take plenty of tackle!
