General comments: Jim Kelly and myself arrived at Grosley large lake in a 30 mph cold Northerley wind. The wind calmed later that day, but we then had snow rain and ice over the next 4 days. On 3 mornings we woke to all our indicators and reels being frozen solid. As you can gather the carp weren't feeding. It was not until the 5th day that I had the first carp. I finished the week with 14 carp in total, 11 doubles to 19lb , a 23lb 8oz carp and an immaculate 40lb 2 ounce mirror carp. All the fish were caught off spodded hemp and 15 mil Quest Rahja Spice shelf life boilies. Jim had 8 carp, 6 twenties and 2 doubles. All the fish were caught in the latter 3 days of our trip when the weather warmed up to between 6 and 9 degrees. I am sure that with better weather conditions we would have caught some of the bigger residents of the lake, and a lot more of them. The lake is at least 25 acres in size and is set in a fully private complex, with its own restaurant, and shower block.

General comments: When I arrived there was a gale force Northely blowing (the later Ferries were cancelled). The next few days there was snow and heavy rain, the temperature did not rise above 4 degrees C on two consecutive days. During the first two nights there was rain/snow followed by a heavy frost. The line froze solid on the reals. needless to say nothing was caught for the first 5 days. When the temperature managed to struggle over 6 degrees I started to catch. I caught 8 carp during the last couple of days to 27 pound plus. All carp were caught from the margins.
