Hi Bridget After many trips all over France we came across this lake and for the last 3 years have returned there. I would strongly recommend Hooked in France to anyone who wants great catches. Last year the 5 of us arrived there again and the total catch for the week was just under 1Ton !!!! . Don't know of anywhere where you can catch 3 sturgeon a week, largest at the time was 55lb.
Facilities are very good - shower room, freezer, kitchen & microwave - all very clean.
We found the best baits to be Carp Company Cranberry 20mm (which where bought on site), fished over pva bag of trout pellet or stringer.
The best swims that I fished are The Double & The Road Swim, but you are going to catch anywhere on this lake.
The local village (town) is approx 10mins away with a large supermarket.
Broke all my PB's there - Sturgeon of 55lbs, carp of 38lb12oz, cat 47lb and countless thirties - not the biggest in France I know - but enough to make us all grin like Cheshire cats for the week, and the talk of the local pub for many weeks after.
There is not much more that I can say about Montautiers but if you to test your rods and want a great week away I would strongly recommend this place !!!!
