General comments: Lots of rats, on-site baliff to point out and help. Nice venue, too many swims for the size of the lake.

What did you find were the best tactics/baits: Listening to Mick the baliff he knows his stuff and is a top bloke.Then having a poke around to find clear patches then placing baits with small amounts of free offerings.

General comments: our second year at Island Lake,fantastic place really makes you work for your fish but they are worth it,a proper big fish water but by no means easy.

Brief details of your catches: Two bream about 7-8lb each, other anglers on my bank had 5 fish, one had 1 fish but other had four from bay he was told not to fish in.All else failed, the others in my party were impressed by the venue but catch rate was poor.

What did you find were the best tactics/baits: All tactics used,all baits tried. Everything in my amour was deployed!

General comments: Chalets were a brilliant accessory made life so easy, fantastic layout, but for me no good. Good venue possibly understocked, baliff said "don't fish there, don't do this don't do that" Took his advice caught nothing but bream!

Brief details of your catches: Called in for a very short session on my way home from St Christophe and caught mirrors of 54lb, 41lb 12oz and 36lb 2oz the first morning.

What did you find were the best tactics/baits: Light baiting and casting light leads to bubblers. The 54lb'er was hooked just a few feet out!I caught the fish on Quest Baits Liver B8 and Special Crab Plus. A remarkeable venue which I would love to return to for a 'proper session'.

General comments: A beautiful lake containing some incredible fish. It sounded like baby hippo's launching themselves out of the water at night. A nice sized water large enough to keep it interesting but not too large to be intimidating.

General comments: We weren't warned we had to go off-site for water and run a generator to shower. *Angling Lines Note - The website information on the venue clearly states the facilities on the lake. (Although mains electricity is pending connection currently)* Our directions to find the lake were impossible and apparently everyone has problems with them. Disapointed with the fishing. Hard to believe that ten people had rods out 24/7 all week and only one person caught three fish. Every fisherman has a blank day but not a blank week.

What did you find were the best tactics/baits: Quest Baits Special Crab Plus, Raja Spice and Tiger Nut Crunch 15 & 20 mm. Sinlge and snow-man set-up. Various rig configurations. Find the features and stick at it.

General comments: Very good venue but not for the fast-action seeker. When you manage to find the fish you're sure of a 'monster' carp. Weather was absolutely abismal! but venue and PB's more than made up for it. Be much better when electricity is on-line. Very comfortable though and well worth a visit. George,the owner was helpful and we are indebted to him for allowing us to fish his lake at very short notice due to our booked venue becoming un-fishable at the eleventh hour. Brief details of your catches: We caught two carp. One at 5lb 2oz and one at 37 1/2lb. Both caught on tigernuts. The weather was very bad with heavy rain, thunder, lightening and hail. Only two of the anglers on the lake had a reasonable time with several fish caught.

What did you find were the best tactics/baits: It seemed that most of the fish caught came out to tiger nuts.

General comments: The bailiff Mike was excellent, he tried his hardest to put us on the fish. But the fish weren't at our end of the lake, we would go again.

What did you find were the best tactics/baits: Fish for one bite at a time using small beds of partiblend & hemp. Hook baits were tigernuts & Quest Rahja Spice boiles, both worked equally well.

General comments: We have both fished the lake before and knew it could be a bit tricky. On this occasion we caught fish above our expectations both catching personal best commons and mirrors. Overall we had a very enjoyable week and will be returning to the Island Lake in the near future.

Brief details of your catches: We caught seven fish as follows:-Paul 20.06, 39.02, 32.06 all mirrors and 33.12 leather. Brian 33.03, 31.00 both mirrors and a 29.01 common, also 5 fish lost due to hook pulls and weed.

What did you find were the best tactics/baits: Find the clear patches, and always cast to showing fish, all fish caught were on tiger nuts with a few tigers and a couple of handfuls of partiblend to each rod.

General comments: This is a very lovely place to fish and the facilities are of a good standard. When we arrived we had already had a puncture on our trailer and needed a spare for the return trip and Sandra helped us to obtain a spare, nothing was to much trouble for her, what a diamond!!! Next we run out of gas but again it was no problem, Tommy let us use one of lakes cylinders (thankyou) and last but not least theres Mick the baliff who was a great help. We also inted to return next year.

What did you find were the best tactics/baits: Small patches of accurately placed bait on features. Also single Crab hookbaitscast down the channel at the back of the Island.

General comments: A great fishery with some beautiful carp. A true big fish water with some awesome fish to be caught. Not a runs water but a true gravel pit carpers dream.

Brief details of your catches: In total I managed 11 fish and lost 2. The smallest being 18.08lb and the biggest 39.05lb, my catch included 9 x 30's.

What did you find were the best tactics/baits: I used a variety of different tactics to see what worked best, but each rig/bait combination I used seemed to work. No need to complicate things though!

General comments: This is a very well run pretty lake. The on-site baliff Mick is a very helpful chap always on hand to help if you're struggling, but not in your face either. A lot of anglers have complained about the weed but it really isn't a problem, the boats are there to help, after all it's all part of fishing eh? I would have no hesitation in recommending this water, or Angling Lines to other anglers.

Brief details of your catches: Sorry its so late but had to respond to the negative party of 10. There were 4 of us fishing as part of Paul Henekes group of 2. We were father 2 sons, a grandson, father, one son and one grandson all achieved there personal best. In the case of the son David and grandson Nick they both achieved their personal best a 26 and a 39 not bad when you realise that neither had carp fished for 18 years and were working with borrowed kit and expert advice from grandad David and dad Nigel. We landed a total of 14 carp from 26 to 40.8 lb. Mick the bailif is one of the best a true diamond so we will be back in 2008

What did you find were the best tactics/baits: When you not are achieving keep working and changing tatics.
