General comments: This was our 3rd trip to Lac du Val, as always a very warm welcome awaited us by Sammy & Dave. Sammy`s food was fantastic as usual. The fish are obviously slowing down now for winter but with Dave`s helpful advice and guidance we managed to catch a decent number of very nice fish. But do listen to Dave as he knows his own water. The weather was excellent for October. But we cannot wait to book for next year, but we felt somehow we will be back before then. But we will remember 2005 for 2 very special reasons, the reasons being Sammy & Dave we are so glad we found you both along with Lac du Val.

General comments: Listen to Dave`s help as this is essential if you want to catch fish. We found the shop very handy stocking everything from bait to terminal tackle, a real aladins cave. The chalet we stayed in was lovely and warm and very comfortable and we would not hesitate in recommending this place to everyone.

General comments: The venue and location was good but the directions to the venue needs looking at as these were hard to follow but overall we had a great week and the weather was good. Dave and Sammy was good host and we are hopeing to return next year fishing was excellent

General comments: We could not fault the place in any way, our chalet was lovely and confortable. Dave amd Sammy could not do enough for us and nothing was too much trouble for them. All the fish we caught was in lovely condition and the little onsite shop was well stocked, and when we come back next year, I will be buying most of my stuff from Dave on site. What did you find were the best tactics/baits: As advised by Dave, running rigs seemed to work best. Our bait was Lac du Val Specials and Lac du Val Carp pellets 15mm. We found that a baitboat was a must to reach the far bank where the carp was holding up.

General comments: For the first timer in France you will not find a more pleasant and sociable place than Lac du Val. Accommadation and Sammy`s cooking is all you could want for a superb holiday. I an looking forward to seeing David at the Carp Society Show and I could not think of anyone more qualified to speak about carp and their surroundings than him. We found that if you feed him chocolate biscuits he will talk for hours about carp amd his experiences. I am in no doubt we will be back next year.

General comments: Nick: Really well stocked shop with all round choice of tackle, Excellent! Scotty: I only wish I had listened to Dave more!!! and taken more notice of his advice. Pete: Really enjoyable week, with full marks to the chef. John: Lac du Val is a real clean and tidy place, the fishing was lovely, and all the fish I caught were in lovely condition. Bill: I wish I would have caught more fish, but everything was against us. With a very high pressure and temperatures of 103. The only downside to this holiday is that it came to an end.

General comments: Absolutley spot on, the whole holiday was perfect, and could not be faulted in anyway. As hosts David and Sammy was spot on and the food was excellent. General comments: This is an A1 venue, so peaceful and really relaxing. The fishing was fantastic all week and we never once thought of work. General comments: Lac du Val is an excellent fishery, infact the best I have been to and is expertly managed by Dave & Sammy. Accommodation and food is more than you could hope for on a carping holiday. This an ideal family venue and the area is great and the locals are very friendly. Driving from the ferry is an easy 1 hour trip. The place is better than some well known big named fisheries in France we have been to and is shaping up to be one of the best all rounders due to excellent fishery managment by Dave & Sammy. Cannot be recommended highly enough. This is our sencond trip to Lac du Val and hopefully it will not be our last, we are hoping to be back for 2 weeks next year. This time we brought our 4 year old daughter and Aunty along and we would have no hesitation in recommending is venue to families. We all had a fantastic time there is plenty to do and see in the area, driving is easy as is parking. There is an excellent swimming pool in Vire which is very reasonably priced. We visited the local market which is a must to see the 11am dash for the livestock market. Sammy`s cooking is excellent and anybody who does not sample this is missing a really treat. Value for money with excellent variety, and you should also know a soon as Sammy arrives with the food the rods start going off, but no need to worry Dave is always on hand to lift the rods and take care of the fish, as we would not leave sammy`s dinner for anything under 40lb. You will find Sammy & Dave excellent company and you can learn so much about the fishing from both of them. The tackle shop is very well stocked and we recommend the big carp pellets. Our acommondation was exstremely well aquipped, the none fisher stayed in the chalet with the bathroom and we stayed in the lake chalet so we could fish at night... and was we kept busy! All the fish we caught were in excellent condition due to Dave & Sammy`s mangament. The lake and surroundings are beautiful. Charlie the big dog make look fierce but he is a real softy especially with our 4 year old daughter who never left him alone all week. Any other families who do not come alone with their fishermen or fisherwomen are really missing out as Lac du Val has so much more to offer for the whole family, as well as the best fishing we have ever had. General comments: We found the only disappointing part was when this fantastic week came an end. The whole of the holiday was made so much better by David and Sammy, they made us feel not just visitors but part of their family from the minute we arrived, nothing was too much trouble. The food was doubley fab, and the location was beyond our dreams, I felt we had died and gone to heaven. The chalet far better than we expected, nice and warm and very comfortable. It was nice to leave all your belongings about and know they were safe. To us both this has been a totally faultless holiday and ending with us both catching our personal best fish in beautiful condtions. The whole of the lake and grounds are kept beautiful and we have loved every minute of it for our first holiday in France, and you can tell David & Sammy do not do this just as a job it is a passion with them both, and we will most definitely return to Lac du Val. General comments: We was made very welcome right from the start by Sammy & Dave making a very welcome pot of tea in the farmhouse. Dave gave us very good advice from the start and continued through the week, we can say without doubt we have never seen fish in such excellent condition, due to Dave`s winter feeding program. All the facilities are far better than what you see on the website, infact " IT DOES EXACTLY WHAT IT SAYS ON THE TIN " Entertainment was excellent, with the horses, hawks and dog. We fished through all sorts of weather, but this did not deter us with great results as above. The shop was excellent on site, and we had a brilliant week all round roll on next year. General comments: The overall entertainment was excellent with Dave and his Hawks, Charlie the dog and the horses. The wildlife was beautiful. No mosquitoes which was a blessing. We found it a big advantage to buy your baits and particles from Dave at the shop, this saves you carrying them and all the extra weight, but do not take the Paris raod as we did. We took Dave`s expert advice and he showed us a new rig to our advantage. Lac du Val is a must for the first time angler with expert tuition from Dave. We will definitely return to Lac du Val again.

General comments: We got to the lake a little later than expected; Dave and Sammy were waiting to greet us with a welcome cup of tea and a chat about the lake. We took a walk around before setting up; Dave gave us the info we needed to choose our swims. We thoroughly enjoyed the week, the place was spotless, facilities superb, Sammy really spoilt us, her cooking is first class. Nothing was too much trouble. We were sorry to go, but have decided that we will all go back and fish the lake again. We were made very welcome, Dave and Sammy were great hosts and great company. 1st Class

General comments: Phil. A very warm friendly welcome by Dave & Sammy, But if you drink tea bring your own milk as french milk is not very nice. Also hide your chocolate and buiscits from Dave and Sammy as they have a sweet tooth ha ha. Listen to Dave`s advise who can easily be bribed with a penguin and cup of tea. Remenber to pay the lake with a coin on arrival, kiss your rods before going to bed. By Thursday sleep deprivation will set in through night action. Hugs and kisses Phil. Rich. General comments: Everything about the venue and the holiday was spot on. Excellent hospitality in every way. Welcoming and friendly expert advice from Dave. General comments: Myself & may wife have just returned from our first fishing trip to France. We found out about Angling Lines from a advert in Total Carp, we also got a DVD from you and then sourced your Website and we must say that you provide a very professionally run service from start to finish. I fish but my wife does not, so we were looking for a suitable venue with accommodation and after scanning all your holidays we settled for Lac du Val. The travel directions are easy to follow and spot on, when you arrive you are greeted near enough at the gate by David and Sammy. The first thing is a cup of tea and a chat and you are made to feel at home straight away. Then down to the lake and the accommodation, which is right by the waterside, very well equipped, very clean and extremely comfortable, all you could wish for. Sammy's cooking is fantastic, my wife is a vegetarian and we realise that Sammy went to extra special trouble to make sure that things were right for which we will be eternally grateful. Talking to David it is obvious that he has a wealth of knowledge and experience within the carp fishing world. The secret is to ask and you will receive all the help and advice that he can give, after all who would know more about fishing the lake than himself or Sammy because they created and stocked the lake from a swamp. We arrived at about 1pm, I set up my gear and was fishing by about 3pm, but not before asking David's advice which was running leads and snowman baits. I was using your Angling Lines Specials which all the fish came to, David advised me where to place the baits. Low and behold, at 9-10pm I had a screaming run from the island and banked the biggest fish of the holiday, a 26lb mirror - how's that for advice. The fish, as were all the others that I caught, was in pristine condition, Sammy and David were as pleased as I was, I have a feeling that they know all the fish personally! The lake is like the Garden of Eden and maintained by a lot of hard work by two people who truly care. Nothing is too much trouble, especially for the visitors. The breakfast is served at 10am because David and Sammy know that prime time for catching is taking a temporary pause, if you don't get a run at fish-o-clock (9 to 10pm)the fish are not having it but will be on again during the early hours. Most people go to France to up their personal best, I didn't manage it this time but within the whole holiday experience it didn't matter one little bit - maybe next time? It is not a question of if we go again, but when? We did ask if we could move in permanently but, as David and Sammy explained, it is only fair to let other people share a little piece of heaven, which seems only right; when you are there it seems that the outside world doesn't exist, which is a very special feeling. If you give awards to owners of your venues I would recommend David and Sammy, if you don't give awards I would like to propose that you start one, after all it is people like these that are your representatives and that make the whole business successful. We would like to thank you once again for organising a brilliant holiday for us, but most of all to David and Sammy for making us truly feel part of their family. Mr & Mrs Clarke

General comments: Brian & Paul Jackson. This is our 5th trip to France and these are the best facilities we have ever experienced. The food and fishery was first class in every way & Dave the owner could not have made the holiday any better for us all. Without doubt we will be returning again next year. Sam & Berel Richardson. At the age of 57 I have finally found my Shangrila in Lac du Val. We was made very welcome from the start and the food made by Sammy was every one could need beautifully cooked and we are sure we are all leaving 2 stone heavier. The chalet we stayed in was really comfortable and the company on the lake was superb. The expert knowledge given to us by Dave all through the week I am sure will take us back to England better anglers and the lake and surroundings was an absolute star place to come too. We shall be returning without doubt. Dave Morley and Gary. The food prepared by Sammy was excellent in every way. The lake reminded me very much of Redmire Pool. Dave`s help on fishing tips all week was excellent. The tackle shop on site was also a great boon to us and is very well stocked. Something that I must mention is that you fell extremly safe at this venue in every way we had no need to worry about our cars or tackle as we do in the UK. The amount of anglers allowed on the lake gave us all plenty of space to fish. The chalet that we stayed in was more than comfortable and very nicely kept. The whole holiday was a very nice experience for us both as this was our first time in France and we was welcome in every way. I must add that the hire of matierals from Dave`s shop is very helpful when to have left things at home and my bacon was saved when the heavens open and a bivvy appeared with Dave, and last but not least the quality of the fish were superb and this is one place we shall return to again.

General comments: We arrived at the lake early to be welcomed by the owners, Sammy and David, and a nice cuppa tea!! After a walk around the lake with David, we the anglers discussed amongst ourselves where we were going to set our stalls for the week. We decided to fish the far side of the lake and had our rods ready to go by 3pm ish. Over the week i decided to have the evening meals which were excellent and food was plentyful. Thank you Sammy!! Breakfasts were also yum yum :-) Over the 7 days we had something like 200lb+ of fish which were all in mint condition, which is nice to see. It's definitely a place I will go back to.

General comments: Nev Morfitt - We had a very relaxing week with hospitality excellent in every way with food by Sammy to match. General comments: Peter & Alison Battram. A very quite and relaxing week for us all, we found the condition of all the fish where excellent, and had grown considerably from last year owing to Dave`s managment of winter feeding program. This is our second year here and Sammy & Dave`s hospitality along with the food was excellent. We will be back next year. Dale Butler. his was a superb fishing holiday of us at a great venue, very relaxing in every way, and we were very well looked after by Sammy & Dave I caught my PB common also my PB mirror so to say I was very happy was a understatment. My 9 year old son Mathew also had a great time and was tended to by Sammy & Dave and enjoyed himself very much indeed and we definitely come back again next year. General comments: Terry Young. This is our third visit in 12 months to Lac du Val and was as fantastic as ever, with 51 fish to boot, including 3 very nice 30s. With us all marking up our PBs once again. David and Sammy was fantastic as usual. Sammy`s food was as good as ever but not recommended if you are on a diet. General comments: Richard Butler. After meeting David & Sammy, David showed us around the beautiful lake giving us hint and tips for the best tactics. Source and Fusion boilies seem to work best, all the fish were extremely hard fighting and are stunning fish. The weather makes a hugh difference as to where the fish are located, shallows in warmer weather and the dam end for those fairly cold days. Even though we did not use the chalets they looked very comfortable. Over all it was a fantastic choice for our first trip to France. David & Sammy are superb host and with a toal of 99 fish between us we will be back. Second angler Robin Willsher. My first fishing trip on a French water to a really nice lake with freindly informative owners, great surroundings weather went from good to bad but did not affect the fishing. I caught 38 fish including 3 single figure carp 25 doubles, 6 x 20s and 5 big tench the biggest being 8lb 12oz, also 12lb 5oz catfish. SUPERB! Baits: Source Fusion carp pellet and maize. Third angler. Matin Simons. 14 caught in all we only had 1 cooked meal by Sammy but it was good. The lake is very well laid out. Tackle shop is small yet has everything you could possibly need. Owners was very helpful with tips and tactics and went out of their way to help us. ( I will be back ) Fourth angler Adge Broome. I caught 17 carp ranging from mid doubles, 5 x 20s to 29lb 3oz and plus a 31lb 3oz common. Really nice lake in a good area. very friendly owners Dave & Sammy, endless amount of knowledge from Dave and all beautiful fish, mostly running leads bait Source boilies and pellets. EXCELLENT WEEK!

General comments: This was our first fishing holiday in France we received a very friendly welcome from Dave & Sammy who could not have done more to make our stay so enjoyable. Their advice on baits and technics was extremely helpful and Sammy`s cooking was out of this world with a fantastic menu with a great variety. Such friendly helpful hosts have made this trip the first of many to Lac du Val for us. The chalet was very comfortable and well equiped and the surroundings have obviously been well cared for to ensure this is an excellent venue but still retaining it`s natural beauty and respect for plants and wildlife. The fishing was fantastic expecially on the doorstep of our chalet. But Sammy & Dave`s hospitality was outstanding real true characters and great fun. Nothing was to much trouble for them and that is what will bring us back to Lac du Val

General comments: We found Dave & Sammy really helpful in every way. This week's fishing has been second to none, we would very much like to come back this year but owing to work commitments this will be very hard, but we will definitely be coming back next year. All the fish came night / day at one period we had to bring the rods in at night so we could get some sleep. Although we came on a holiday for the first time to France we both feel we have made some great new fishing friends in Sammy & Dave and we will be in constant touch by email. We would recommend Lac du Val venue to anyone looking for a good fishing holiday and a warm welcome. We could go on and on about Lac du Val but what more can we say. Excellent place to fish and although we are both carp experienced we have both learnt a lot from Dave this week and are both very reluctant to leave having both achieved our personal best.
