General comments: The weather is excellent for fishing. Not cold at night and sunny in the day. I decided to have a go to Old Oaks a couple of hours only last week. I fished one day with 2 rods during 2h for one run and caught a superb yellow mirror of 30lb. Then, another day , I tried 2h30 for 3 runs and caught 3 fish. I fished another 3h for 2 runs and caught 2 mirror. I'm really happy and will try again very soon !

Brief details of your catches: Mehdi was keen for me to have a go on Old Oak's so I managed to talk him into joining me for a social. We only fished for one afternoon but caught 9 fish between us. Mehdi had fish of 23.00,26.00,28.00 and 28.00I had fish of 23.00, 23.00, 25.14, 26.00 and 28.04 - Not bad for a short winter's afternoon in torrential rain!

What did you find were the best tactics/baits: I fished just two rods. One over a bed of Quest Baits Rahja Spice boilies and one on a small PVA bag of Special Crab Plus Boilies fished on its own (the bag had crushed boilies in it). I caught 3 on the Rhaja and 2 on the Crab.

General comments: A lovely lake which gave me some of the most hectic sport I have experienced. Superb water for someone wanting lots of action. And perfect for the angler who enjoys relatively close range English type fishing.

What did you find were the best tactics/baits: Plastic popup corn (night glow) over beds of hot hemp. I fished 1-2 yards from far bank (accurate casting a must). Once bait placed not moved until a run. Just topped up free offerings every 2 hours or so.

General comments: Fantastic fishing again for only 2 days. Caught all the fish at night with the Quest Bait ... I had 13 carp and lost 4 and a very big common I estimated at 40lb ! The fish were active only at night because it was red hot during day... but I fished at night only from the second one ! I will come back very soon !

General comments: Due to the fish ready to spawn, they were swimming close to the margins and weed. So I decided to fish the opposite bank close to a weed bed. Carp were feeding early in the morning and during the evening. All the fish were in mint conditions and were very hard fighters. I had twice a double takes! I will come back !

General comments: Mehdi is absolutely superb in his passion for carp fishing,fish care, and ensuring you have a good time and catch. We had without doubt our best holiday so far! I think Mehdi is finishing the chalet this week and once thats completed Old Oaks will be a carp anglers paradise. The fish all fought incredibly hard and were in good condition - we will be back for the lake record and a grass carp! On our return we hope to see a few beers in the fridge Mehdi, seeing as we helped carry it in there for you!!!!

Brief details of your catches: 25 superb conditioned mirrors. 5 thirties, 17 twenties, 2 doubles and one original single. My friend Darrin caught the current lake record mirror at 35.08lb.

What did you find were the best tactics/baits: All fish came tight to far bank uner over hanging trees and bushes in depths from 4ft-7ft of water. The use of a baitboat was essential for tight precise baiting. Bait wise all fish came to 14mm pop-ups and triple plastic corn. I was using Quest Irish Cream boilies and M8 baits and placing 1 kg of hemp/Quest Irish Cream pellet with 40 loose boiles to each spot. Bottom baits did not produce nor did open water spots.As the fish have just woken up from their winter slumbers most of the fish were patroling the far margins.

Were the facilities what you expected? Yes. Very secure lake and excellent facilities.

Would you recommend our services to a friend? I have been to many Angling Lines waters and use them at least once a year.

General comments: The lake owner Mehdi is an absolute gem. He is creating an excellent fishery which will be on par with Laroussi in the future. Old Oaks is a perfect exclusive venue with all the swims on one side of the lake so that there are no conflicts with other anglers. The stock fish which Mehdi has selected by hand are in excellent condition and are very hard fighters as are the beautiful original fish. My only wish was that the grass carp had fed, that 40lb grassy would have looked great on my unhooking mat !!!! Get on Old Oaks before everyone else does.

What did you find were the best tactics/baits: Fishing the margins in the last swim on a gravel bar in 5 feet of water. South wind blowing in bring the fish in this area : saw them crashing and feeding here. 3kg of pellet, 4kg of partiblend and 40 freebies per cast per rod : pop'up mapple 8 and pineapple with plastic sweet corn on hair.

General comments: Top quality lake, fish in excellent conditions, confortable swims,many features and lovely fish ! The facilities looks superb ! I 'll be back.
