Brief details of your catches: We ended up with around 20 fish between us. The biggest fell to me on my birthday! @ 46lb, it will be a while before I beat it! We had plenty of thirties and a cracking 31lb common fell to Rob.

What did you find were the best tactics/baits: We were mainly fishing tight to the trees using a bait boat. Baits were Activ 8 & Maple 8 with plenty of Halibut pellets as freebies.

General comments: It’s the second time we have fished it and both times the facilities and fishing were excellent. The food is excellent and fairly priced. It’s not worth cooking over there.

Brief details of your catches: In that week between two of us we had 37 fish between 10-20lb, 28 fish between 20-30lb, and 2 fish over 30lb and 2 sturgeon @ 12lb and 19lb not to mention a countless amount of fish lost.

What did you find were the best tactics/baits: We had most of our fish on mianline maple 8 & active 8 14mm boillies. All methods caught fish but we found fishing the method with a single boillie worked the best.

General comments:  Directions were spot on didn't get lost at all. Well all that leaves is to say thankyou for a great first time visit to France for the 2 of us we both did our pb,s and had a great time.

General comments:  The venue was very relaxed and the owner left you to enjoy your fishing. Only downside to the small lake was that the banks were dangerous after it rained and would benefit from steps being cut into the banks.

What did you find were the best tactics/baits: A single boilie with pva stocking filled with time bomb pellets.  Used Kent mix boilies and Fusion. Best results where the Kent mix. Freebie boilies around hook bait.

Brief details of your catches: Caught a lot of fish as soon as we got there, 1 st 2 fish were 25lb and 23lb within an hour of being there. I had 42 over 20lb, the biggest was 28lb 8oz. I had 97 fish to a total of 1700lb, the smallest fish was 14lb.

What did you find were the best tactics/baits: There were no obvious features to cast to and none under the water so I fished 50 yards out using PVA bags and catapult boilies over the top. The best bait was 20mm pellet.

Brief details of your catches: Steve - I caught 49 fish, total weight 881lb. My brother, Simon, caught 50 fish, total weight 916lb. My nephew, George, had 47 fish for 858lb!! We all caught fish to just under 26lb, mainly on Nash bait. Total weight approx 2655lb.

What did you find were the best tactics/baits: Casting to the middle with PVA bags worked but we did better when we used our bait boats. Sometimes we could not get our boats back to the bank before we had a take!

Were you happy with them?  Yes. The only disappointment was that we could not purchase any pellets. We drove and found 4 tackle shops still with no luck.

Brief details of your catches: We did not night fish and only fished two rods each. We left on the Friday due to an engagement. We had seventy carp to 24.5lb, total weight 1002lb. On several occasions we had two fish on the bank and the runs kept coming at a steady pace. It was awesome.

Were the facilities what you expected?  Venue was beautiful. Facilities were great. Hot shower in a new clean shower block. Hot meal and a cold beer every night. Christophe was superb. Dealing with broken down cars and one guy with a huge hook in his leg.

General comments:  Thank you very much for all of your help and a great week that myself and my dad have had. Of the eight English anglers on the large lake, not one had fished abroad before and not one had caught a twenty. Everyone caught PB’s and had a great time.

General comments:  Me and my wife would like to thank you for the best fishing holiday we have ever had, we caught 91 fish 3 of them were sturgeon the rest were carp with the best weight being 27lbs but averageing between 12-20lbs. All baits we tried caught fish. We did not fish through the night as the action during the day was somewhat hectic.The facilitys were great and christoph was a great help. General comments:  Again, having fished many lakes in France & Holland, I found the lake clean & tidy, very picturesque & unspoilt. The fish were a very good quality with many looking as if they hadn't been caught before. Nearly all our fish came to double 18mm boilies with small hooks, 8's & 10's being the best. I don't know why but bigger hooks produced less fish. Beware, all the fish came off gravel bars & plateaus so go tackled up for this with good quality line & tubing as leaders, etc are not allowed.

All the comforts of home are on site (if required), good English quality food - for those that have fished other French venues you will know what I mean. For those who are going for the first time you are very well looked after. Alternatively, for those who like do it yourself, a good quality supermarket is an easy short drive away, you can be there and back with shopping in 20 minutes. Personally, Christophe & wife will look after you food wise at a very reasonable price.

Boilies, etc can be bought on site & are of good quality. I took my own rolled in England , I saved mine & used the ones my mates had purchased - cheeky me!

We fished the small 2 acre lake on the complex. It is not a chuck & hope water but with a little effort to find the gravel areas (not hard at all) you will have good results. Three of us fished 7 nights with a total of 54 fish with 20-30 fished dropped at the net, etc. We had a total combined weight of 1300lb+, including loads of upper 20's, 6 thirties and the biggest 43½lb caught by me of course. We had 3 catfish of 28lb, 45lb and one HUGE 6½ foot long - my scales only went to 60lb which quickly bottomed out. Two of us had a lot of trouble lifting this monster, it had to be 80-90lb+.

All in all, a great time had & a re-booking taken for us at the lake - must get bigger scales by then.

If you're thinking of going to France for the 1 st time or the 20 th then this is an excellent all round complex with an easy 2½ hour drive from Calais making it quick to get to, even for a long weekend.

Dear Bridget.

Just a quick note to let you know how we got on at Roseau last week:

Saturday/Sunday
Arrived at lunch time to scorching heat. The lake was very busy and we took the last 2 available swims (3 & 4).
Over the next 2 days we only caught 7 fish.

Monday
Most people left and at lunch time we moved in to swims 5 & 6. We then had 7 fish in the next 10 hours including our first 20 at 23.9lbs.

Tuesday
The action speeded up with 16 fish for a total of 279Lbs, including 3 twenties.

By this time we had got used to lots of action.

Wednesday
Total 13 fish including our biggest of the week at 25.7lbs.

Thursday
Had rest from fishing and went for a drive. So we only fished in the afternoon and ended up with 5 fish including our biggest Sturgeon of 13lbs (boy do they fight).

Friday
We fished until early evening. Once we reached over 900Lbs for the week we reeled in. Total 8 fish.

Total for the week = 3 x Sturgeon to 13Lbs, 2 x Singles, 46 Doubles and 7 x Twenties to 25.7Lbs (903Lbs).

All in all we had 2 days of scorching heat and 5 days of rain. However we had a brilliant time and I don't think we did too badly in the end; especially as we only had the 7 fish in the first 2 days and didn't fish on 3 of the remaining nights.

The new toilet/shower block is very nice. Christophe and Aline were excellent hosts. When my 6 and 10 year olds didn't fancy what was on offer for the evening meal they gave them a few options on what to have.

We also got to see a 42Lb Mirror come out of the small lake.

Brief details of your catches: 29 fish in total with a combined weight of 429lb 7 oz.. 3 carp over 20lb, a 25lb common, a 22lb mirror and a 20lb 10oz mirror. 14 fish from 15ib – 19lb including 2 sturgeon of 17lb 14oz and 17lb 8oz. 8 fish from 10lb - 15lb including two sturgeon of 13lb and 12lb 8oz. 4 fish from 5lb – 10 lb.

What did you find were the best tactics/baits: Halibut pellet with pva bag to begin with, then a single Active 8 boilie.

Were the facilities what you expected?   Worse

Were you happy with them?  Basic... there is only 1 shower and 1 toilet.

Brief details of your catches: 52 fish in total (carp & sturgeon) from swims 5 & 6. Smallest 10lb, biggest carp 28lb, biggest sturgeon 24lb, grass carp to 23lb. All from gravel bars at distances between 40-60yds.

What did you find were the best tactics/baits: Single maple 8 with PVA stringer accounted for 80% of all fish. Sturgeon went for luncheon meat.

Brief details of your catches: We had loads of catches between the two of us. We caught 64 fish, the biggest being 27lb 8oz, but we were hitting a lot of doubles. We had a good time.

What did you find were the best tactics/baits: We thought the best tactics were to fish the gravel & the margins. The baits were Maple 8, tinned tigers & liver marine.

Were the facilities what you expected?    As expected.

General comments:  It was nice fishing there but we were catching too many doubles.
