Brief details of your catches: 21 twenties out of a total of 66 fish caught. Biggest Mirror 25lbs 6oz and biggest common 24lbs 6oz. Even caught the same 23lb mirror twice in 2 days! 11 year old Ashley caught 6 twenties including the biggest common, Dan who has only carp fished twice before caught 7 twenties. Only 2 singles caught, with a couple of Tench as well.

What did you find were the best tactics/baits: Tigernut and Cream boilies, used with pva bags containing broken boilies, halibut and betaine pellets. Catapult out 10/15 boilies by hookbait after recasting. Best swim is on far bank, go through white gate at dam end, and carry on to the last swim before you get to the big trees. If you tread carefully and fish quietly you can catch under the rod top. You need waders on that bank. Biggest commons were always caught from the dam wall. Don't dismiss the shallows (18 inches deep) at the far end of the lake, we caught quite a few there. Two were caught on floating bread within a foot of the dam wall, best time is when the wind is pushing the fish in and they can be seen patrolling the margins on the surface.

General comments: No night fishing and it rained most days. This is our 2nd visit and we may return if we fancy some easy sport, the long drive down is worth it. Plenty of wildlife about such as Coypu, Red Kites, Hoopoe, small Eagles, Hornets and bats.

Brief details of your catches: Stayed in Cottage, which was wonderful. Probably would have done more fishing if we were in Lodge but it is basic and maybe not the best for a family but ideal for a party of fishermen only. Pool is wonderful. Only negative comment I have is that one rule you are not told about is that when stopping in the Cottage and another party are in the Lodge you are supposed to fish from half way up the dam wall up to far corner and al the far banking only. The dam wall is good fishing as is the far banking, however the far banking is overgrown and impossible to bivy up on (in fact difficult to fish from full stop). The Lodge gets to fish the other half of the dam wall and the side the lodge is situated. This is by far the best fishing. This rule should be changed or at least stated up front. By all means reserve 3 or 4 pegs outside the lodge but not the whole banking. Luckily the party in the Lodge were very friendly and let us fish where we wanted otherwise it would have spoilt the holiday - Many Thanks for that.104 fish caught between my 13-year-old son and myself.Average size 19Lb 1Oz.Largest 29 Lb.On average a fish caught every 50 minutes, when fishing well every 15 minutes. 40 of the fish were above 20 Lb. and 10 above 25 Lb.Only night fished once and only had 2 fish. Also on average only fished 6 hours a day due to it being a family holiday and spending time with my wife and daughter. If it were just a fishing holiday the catch rate would be double at least I would think. However because the fishing is so great there was no need to fish any longer and a good night sleep is essential for the action the next day and so would not recommend night fishing.

What did you find were the best tactics/baits: Simple rigs with bottom bait and a few freebies (not many). I ordered my bait from Quest and had it delivered directly to the venue to save space in car. The bait is excellent and reasonably priced especially the pellet mix and prepared hemp. However I also took some other bait all of which caught including old boilies with no smell left at all, sweetcorn, luncheon meat and tiger nuts. Could catch on anything here.Nothing much on pop-ups.

Were the facilities what you expected? Better. Cottage is absoluyely fantastic. Swimming pool excellent

General comments: Unless you are only interested in 30Lb+ fish this venue is a dream. The Bouchot family are wonderful friendly hosts.

General comments: 3rd visit to this prolific venue. Very suitable venue for anyone looking for a lot of action. Would suit any "first timers" to France as is a great water to learn on.

Brief details of your catches: 100 + fish, 2 x 30 lb+, lots of 20lb+. The smaller fish scrap, whereas the larger ones come straight in, we did have a few fish come off. Weather gorgeous, fished better when the wind was going left (from standing in the cabin). The fish were caught day only, no night fishing was done.

What did you find were the best tactics/baits: One of us caught using Quest Bait Rahja Spice, 4 of us used Crab. pva bait.

General comments: beautifull place, very relaxing, lovely swimming pool. Lodge has everything you need for cooking. Supermarket only 4 miles away. Perfect venue for non fishing partners as it is so relaxing, and as the lodge is so near the lake you can chat to the fishermen !!

General comments: Great place, best fighting fish ever! Friendly hosts, lots of flies, lots of fish, lots of beer, wine, vodka, port... hangovers. Listen out for wild boar but don't stroke them. Enjoy yourself.

Were you happy with them? So, so. Lakeside lodge bedding & furniture damp, could smell & feel dampness at night. Cooking/storage facilities fine. ********** NOTE from Angling Lines. These comments relate to the lakeside lodge & not the cottage. Because the lodge is so close to the lake (3 metres) it's inevitable that in rainy damp conditions that there will be a damp feeling about the place. If it's good weather it'll never be a problem. If you're looking to avoid this completely always book the cottage (5 mins from the lake) not the lakeside lodge ***********

General comments: Beautiful venue, friendly owners. If not fishing & not used to camping have the cottage rather than the lodge. The lodge is suitable for fishermen who sleep in tents by the lake & not for the families who join them.

General comments: Thank you Bouchot family for a wonderful stay at Vincons. We had a wonderful week. Lots of marvellous fish, including over 8 fish over the 20lb mark. Not very good weather, there was a thunderstorm on the first day. The dogs were really nice. We were treated very well by the Bouchot family.

General comments: Our second visit to Vincons and as excellent as the first time. Brilliant fishing even though the weather was very poor at times. Not a big fish water but highly recommend the venue to anyone looking for action combined with good facilities and friendly hospitality.

Brief details of your catches: 113 fish in total, Stu had 16, Neil had 37 and Andy had 50, with only 10 below 10lb (103 fish were doubles or higher)! 25 of the fish were 20-25lb and a further 3 were 25-30lb. Neil had the only 30lb+, a Common of 31lbs (played by his missus Harriet!). We also had 4 tench. A pretty successful week by all accounts!

What did you find were the best tactics/baits: Fish can be caught along the dam wall - best towards the end of it - and the swims to the right of the lodge were good too. I think big fish could be caught at the far end of the lake, it rarely gets fished by the sounds of things and don't ignore the margins (to drop a cliche!) Have a good un!

General comments: The fishing aside we had a lovely week! Atu is a lovely little dog - very friendly but a little pesky! Be wary if he's around and you have a carp on the bank - he's a hunter. The pool is great, providing a nice refreshing break from fishing! The badminton also gave a nice distraction. The Bouchet family were very friendly and left us to get on with our holiday and fish while always being available if needed. We appreciate the cadeaux! (P.S - the village bakery and butcher near the post office beat the supermarket hands down!)

Brief details of your catches: Just over 60 Carp caught, mainly high teens to low tweenties. 2 x 30's. Total of 1400lb of carp. Numerous tench to 8 lb, several silver fish to about 1 1/2 lb and even a Zander. Fishing was strictly during the day and quite often didn't start until after lunch, so if you are night fishing or fishing the whole day you could easily double this catch. Contrary to the week prior to us we found most fish came from the middle of the lake and not the margins. The far side of the lake you will see a white gate if you walk in there you will see a path through the reeds which opens out into a nice swim. Its a walk and you need to be keen to take all your gear over there but if you do it is the best swim on the lake. It was only fished for 1 1/2 days by one of our party (found the swim at the end of the week whilst trying to retreive some tackle) he caught 7 carp in the first 4 hours he fished it, mainly caught in the margins.Other swims that proved fruitful were directly off the sluce on the dam and at the far end of the dam. We tried under the trees, which are lovely swims and had some sucess but not as fruitful as the dam.

What did you find were the best tactics/baits: Best bait for the whole week was probably corn/maize, however we caught on boilies (snow man and bottom baits caught) pellet of various types and even maggott. We fished using bags of pellet and stick mix, stringers or where possible over a bed of Maize and Hemp. You will catch using anything at this venue!!! The weather had be very changeable and although we were every lucky not to get much rain, one day it was 28C then 2 days later we almost had a frost at night. the weather being so changeable definately had an effect on the fishing

General comments: The setting is really beautiful and the lake is lovely. We hired the cottage and gite for the week so used both extensively. The accomodation is good and clean but with a little more thought particularly to how they are appointed they could be excellent!!. Although there is a selection of bedding available (sheets/pillows cases available on arrival if requested at extra cost) there are limited pillows/blankets so would suggest taking your own if you are at all worried. Don't let any of this put you off as it really is a lovely place and have no problems recommending it to anyone.

Brief details of your catches: The lake is very nice and stocked with hard fighting fish of good average size. Fishing in brief 3-4 hour stints with no night fishing resulted in a total catch of 15 fish. Biggest fish caught was a 26lb 12oz mirror.

What did you find were the best tactics/baits: Initial use of boilies proved unsuccessful, however, switching to double tiger nut hookbaits over a bed of particles (hemp/maples) soon pulled the fish in!Fished off the dam wall into the margins.

General comments: A nice cottage, both comfortable & convenient, and a very rural french feel - we loved that! Potential negatives include the dog, it's lovely, very friendly and inquisitive but beware when you have a fish on the bank, it literally tries to eat the fish, regardless of size! Also, the dam bank is extremely stony making solid stainless steel banksticks a necessity!
