11th - 18th August 2001
KEVIN KEEP

The lodge is very comfortable and hospitality very friendly. We felt very welcome and thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

The carp we caught were too many to count, the largest were 10 kilos. Float fishing with sweetcorn was very successful and also caught some large tench.

Fishing was all in the daytime and until 1 hour after dark, from outside the cabin and also halfway along the dam wall.

31.08.01 - 06.09.01

THE RUDIE CREW (GILES, GEORGE, BONDI)

MR G SUMMERFIELD

31.08.01 - ½ day fishing - 4 fish caught  - largest 16½lbs Mirror Carp

01.09.01 - 8 fish caught - largest 24lb Common Carp

02.09.01 - 12 fish caught - largest 21½lbs Common Carp

03.09.01 - 28 fish caught - largest 23lbs Common Carp

04.09.01 - 15 caught by midday - 4 were 17, 18lbs the others all 13lbs. Another ten caught in afternoon.

05.09.01 - 22 fish caught - largest 22¼lbs Common Carp

Summary

The fish were all a good size, we mainly use carp nuggets for bait but the luncheon meat got a few of the biggest ones. We fished in front of the cabin all the time. On the edge of the Willow Tree is a good spot to catch.

In between 12 and 3 o'clock in the morning is the best time for night fishing.

8 - 15 SEPTEMBER 2001

CHRIS AND NAT PARSLOW

The weather was very un-predictable, first few days were very hot, but the last two were wet and windy (just like the UK).

Caught loads of fish, (turn over for details) fished outside cabin all week. Used 2 rods at long distance, boilies on both, these accounted for the two big commons. Float fished 2 rod lengths for most of the fish using sweetcorn. All fish in good condition. Cabin is fine, albeit a little low, so watch your head! We had a great time and will be back next year!

1 OCTOBER - 6 OCTOBER 2001

MR WAYNE BOUSTEAD

The weather started to turn cooler (as expected in October), as well as being very unsettled, didn't help fishing.

Still managed some great sport - best swims, off the Willow outside of the lodge and in the shallow to the right.

Caught most fish on boiles and a few on maize.

01.10.01 - 5 fish between 9-10 and 18-10 Mirror Carp

03.10.01 - 6 fish between 12.00 and 17-8

04.10.01 - 7 fish between 8.00 and 17-8

05.10.01 - 5 fish between 9-5 and 12.00

06.10.01 - 12.00, 12-8, 19-8 4 hours fishing

Tried to fish a couple of times at night, but very strange, in so much as I didn't have one run after dark.

Had a good time and will be back for more!!

Comments

Fishing from outside of cabin with boilie's, water is quite deep in this area around 6-8ft, not much action from here during the day, carp tend to stay up the shallow end of the lake. Caught all the pike and zander from the dam wall using spinners, close in against the rocks. Very good condition fish weren't really feeding much because of the cold weather, so we will have to come back next year in the summer.

Most runs coming to NRG boilie with PVA bag of trout pellets during the night.

16 - 23 FEBRUARY 2002

Saturday 16 February 2002

Arrived 1300 local. Started fishing at 1330.
Very cold but much evidence of fish moving. Fished with boilies and sweetcorn. No takes. Casual spinning produced several takes - 2 Zander taken: 5lb.

Sunday 17 February 2002

Poor day salvaged by an obliging Zander: 4lb. No carp.
Saw an otter? (After note: Not an otter - a French water rat - I'm glad we don't have them that size!!!!)
Patches of thin ice at far end of lake.

Monday 18 February 2002

Day started fine then turned to drizzle.
Still cold. Still no carp. Zander still playing - just! Caught one at estimated 8lbs.

Tuesday 19 February 2002

Overcast and showers. Car frosted up in the morning (as it has been very morning). Bought some spinners in the supermarket in Lignieres.  The Zander is a very under rated fish!!!! (6lbs).

Wednesday 20 February 2002

Blowing a gale and much rain. Went to the "other" lake. Caught 4 carp (5-7lbs) on boilies and sweetcorn.
Returned to main lake - Charlie caught PB at 20lb carp - Hurrah!!! No Zander!

Thursday 21 February 2002

One pike and one zander on ledgered herring.

Friday 22 February 2002

3 carp from other lake (1-5lbs)
2 pike from main lake (4-9lbs)

Thank you very much. A wonderful location, a hint of great fish and excellent facilities. We are very keen to return in better weather.

The Bouchot family made us feel very welcome and were very keen that we should have a successful time. We certainly did!

Merci Beaucoup and Au Revoir!!!!!!

Also - SURPRIZE - Zander at 5-6lb.
Weather - Raining.

Thursday 7 March

19lb Mirror Carp
14lb Mirror Carp
(All outside cabin).

Weather - Light Showers and bright spells.

Friday 8 March
Weather - Extremely bright and hot!!
14lb carp, 19.9lb Mirror Carp.

NB: Fish were all in perfect condition and probably the hardest fighting carp I've ever caught. A lot of movement on far side of lake by the trees. Not one bite on boilies all week!!

We would definitely come back in hotter climate. The facilities were excellent. The family were most hospitable and deserve every success with this venture.

Merci Beaucoup et Au Revoir!!!!

9TH MARCH - 16 MARCH 2002

Hospitality - brilliant the Bouchot family are great people and do everything possible, so you have a good time!!!!!

We have all caught plenty of fish but for some reason only two out in front of the lodge during the day, the fish move to the shallows to the right. Best way to catch is wade half way across then cast to far bank. We are all sure that there are bigger fish in the lake than we caught but we still had a lot of fish over 20lbs.

Best Wishes and see you again soon!  THANK YOU AND MERCI!!
